🚨PANTSULA🚨Saturday 26th Oct 1-2:30pm
Diving deep into a fresh South African dance called Pantsula, with feel good grooves such as the intentionally famous 'Gwara gwara', 'Walk ye phara' and many more. The workshop will breakdown the fundamentals of the footwork and grooves, and lastly will end with a dance combination.

This workshop provides students with a new and exciting way to dance, move and shake the body that all ages can enjoy.

We encourage all levels and ages of dancers to attend 🙂 get your friends together and be prepared to have lots of fun!

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in and bring your smile!

Thuba Ndibali~

Recognised performer and choreographer, Thuba graduated from Academy of Music and Performing Arts with a Bachelor of Dance, studying Ballet, Jazz, Hip-hop and is currently working in the industry. Thuba is currently part of Shaun Parker and Company with performance credits for brands like NIKE, Myer, FitBitau and Telstra. Thuba emerged onto the dance scene as a freestyler and at a very young age pursued Pantsula (Afro) in Zimbabwe, which is now his specialty. #dance #dancer #dancing #dancers #panstula #panstuladance #fun #vibe #workshop

Jean Paul Jr. was born in New Jersey, USA and He began his dance training at the age of 16 at the Newark School of the Arts and went on to study at the American Ballet Theater summer programs, Alvin Ailey School and with Alonzo King Lines Ballet. A graduate of Butler University (Indianapolis Indiana) in dance and business, Jean Paul has performed with Complexions Contemporary Ballet NYC, David Parsons Dance Company NYC and American Repertory BalletNYC/NJ, and has appeared as a guest artist with Arkansas BalletUSA, Cleveland Contemporary Dance TheaterUSA, and Rebecca Kelly BalletNYC, Connecticut Opera in La Traviata, and Tales of Hoffman, the Indianapolis Opera in La Traviata, Rigelleto and Aida. He has served on the faculty of Raritan Valley Community College from 2008 to 2012.
In addition to performing with Nimbus Dance Works from 2008 to 2012 and choreographing Priye Ginen, Jean Paul has choreographed Bungi Dangga in 2008 and Travellers in 2009 on the company. While performing with Opera Australia in Aida and Un Ballo in 2012-2013 and appearing as a guest teacher at various schools, Jean Paul also completed a Masters in Real Estate Investment and Development at the University of New South Wales in 2013 and currently in 2014 is contracted with Opera Australia in Don Giovanni.

House Monday’s 6:30-7:30pm

What is House dance?

House Dance originated in the late 70’s and early 80’s from underground clubs in Chicago and New York. This style emphasises the use footwork and body flow.

House dance consists of 3 main elements - footwork, jacking & lofting.
Jacking it’s a wavy body groove starting from the hips. It makes the body groove into a music rhythm and move the whole body.

Footwork it’s a combination of movements of legs with jumps and rolls. These movements have taken influences of different styles such as tap, salsa, breaking and of course afro dances.

Lofting is a slow and drawling part of house dance. It was born in the New York club The Loft and takes its name from here. Torques, waves and acrobatic tricks came from b-boying and capoeira.
