Ruby Boukabou has tap danced her way around the globe over the past decade and is back home in Sydney to perform and share some steps she’s picked up in her travels. Under various stage names including Jazmin Baret and Ms B, Ruby has tap danced in international festivals including Glastonbury, Edinburgh and Melbourne and performed at venues such as the Olympia and The Divan du Monde in Paris, The Famous Spiegletent in various cities, The Monument in Algiers, The Chat Noir in Geneva, The Basement in Sydney and at the Hilton in Mumbai. Ruby has trained in a variety of tap styles with, Roxane Butterfly (Barcelona/ NY) Jason Janas, Jason Rodgers Chloe Arnold (USA), Victor Cuno, Marion Sandners (Paris) Junior Laniyan, Derek Hearley (London), Glenn Wood, Tracey Wilson, various members of The Tap Dogs (Aus) and many more. She’s the co founder of the Paris Tap Crew and co produces the Paris Tap Jam from 2011 to 2015. She’s also a member of the recently formed Paris Cats (with pianist Chris Cody and singer Rose Grayson) and The Shuffle Project (with French Tap dancer Mbango Baer, guitarists Alex Stuart and Daniel Hunter and bassist Jay Golden and guests such as Tamango from Urban Tap, New York). Ruby believes that tap dance and good rhythms keep you grounded, inspired, fit and focused. For those keen, there will be upcoming performance opportunities with use of class repertoire.
