The LAN Brazilian Festa makes its return to North Sydney Oval this March as part of the Starlight Cinema program.
From 4pm there will be live music, traditional food and drinks, workshops, talks, cooking classes and football clinics.
The chilled out sounds of the Brazilian Bossa Nova will kick off the afternoon, followed by Chorinho, Capoeira, a fabulous Brazilian show, Brazilian film and so much more.

Fire Music, Dean’s score inspired by the tragic fires in Victoria in 2009, was commissioned jointly by the Australian Ballet and Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. The music was first heard, as a purely orchestral work, in Stockholm in November and will have its Australian premiere next week set alongside a new dance work by Graeme Murphy. Read more…

Dance-A-Thon is a local charity event, raising money for several local charities. All proceeds raised (100%) will go towards this years local charity; The Fred Hollows Foundation”. Each dancer will be asked to raise at least $50 for our chosen charity, plus the dancer that raises the most, will be rewarded $250.00 cash!

Dance Central is excited to support Shadowed By A Roadside - the debut solo exhibition from outstanding UK photographer Simon Hewson.

One of Hewson’s most significant works, this is collection of images taken in rural towns in New South Wales reflecting life in the boom‐towns and forgotten communities that have been bypassed by new, major roads and industry. Hewson’s work breathes beauty into the rusty, industrial and forgotten minutiae of these lonely towns.

This profoundly moving exhibition will be showing at Gaffa Gallery from 27th January ‐ 7th February 2012. Opening night is Friday 27th January from 6‐8pm.

up the abs and discover your rhythm within the magical circle that is
the hoop. The ideal class for absolute beginners focusing on foundationa
l on and off body moves including the waist, hips, chest and hands.
This full body 2 hour workout includes warm-up, conditioning, stance,
saves, turns, moving the hoop up and down the body for booty hooping
and chest shimmying, lassos, weaves, an introduction to hoop dance
and warm down. No previous experience required. Hoops provided and

CONNECTIONS Brazil-Australia is an exhibition of art, photography, drawings, maps and artefacts. Brazil is well known for football, beaches and samba but did you know that Brazil and Australia share historical links from a time when they were joined by the ancient Gondwana supercontinent? This exhibition takes us on a journey from ancient times to the present day to experience connections between Australia and Brazil moving towards a shared environmentally sound future.
SPECIAL EVENT
To celebrate the exhibition opening on 25 November you are invited to a Music in the Museum event, a performance by a trio of Brazilian classical musicians – João Carlos Assis Brasil, Paulo Pedrassoli and Karla Bach – featuring the music of Villa-Lobos and Gonzada. This concert will see Music in the Museum in Australia for the first time!
